Frederick A.
Kaempffe, MD, FAAOS, FACS – Originally from Palmyra, New
York, Dr. Kaempffe returned to Wayne County upon completion of his medical
training in 1991. He graduated from Colgate University, and then from the
State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. His general
surgical internship was at the Millard Fillmore Hospitals in Buffalo. He
completed his orthopaedic residency in the Department of Orthopaedic
Surgery, State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. He
then completed a musculoskeletal microsurgery and hand surgery fellowship
at the Hand Center of Western New York in Buffalo.
He is a Diplomat of the American
Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow in the American Academy of
Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
He has presented and published
scientific papers, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of
orthopaedic and hand surgery topics, and most recently, on quality systems
in health care.
He is the founder and current
Physician Director of both Wayne Regional Orthopaedics, PLLC, and Finger
Lakes Hand Surgery.

Samuel S. Bean, MS, RN, FNP
– Mr. Bean is a family nurse
practitioner, certified by the New York State Education Department. He
provides clinical care with concentrations in cast care, perioperative
education and screening, and surgical assistance. He also provides
administrative services for the practice.
Mr. Bean has over 15 years of
hospital experience, with leadership positions in medical/surgical,
intensive care, and emergency departments. He is an instructor in Advanced
Cardiac Life Support, and assists with local EMS educational programs. Mr.
Bean remains active locally in the community, promoting nursing through
job fairs in area school systems.
Mr. Bean is the management
representative and lead auditor for the practice’s ISO-9000 quality
system.
He is committed to customer
service and this efficiently blends into his clinical, administrative, and
quality system responsibilities in the practice.
Nikki L. Smith RPA-C –
Nikki Smith is a Physician Assistant certified and
registered by the New York State Education Department. Born and raised in
Sodus, NY, Nikki graduated from Onondaga Community College in 1998 with a
certificate in Surgical Technology. She went onto Rochester Institute of
Technology and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. In 2003
Nikki completed her Physician Assistant degree at LeMoyne College in
Syracuse. She provides clinical care, perioperative education and
screening, assists with surgical procedures, and is the promoter of
women’s orthopaedic health for the practice.
